Canteens

Canteens play a central role in the majority of public schools. They provide nutritious and affordable food to students, raise valuable funds for educational programs and are a fine example of parent participation.

P&C Federation actively supports canteens and commends the parents who run them. Although most parent volunteers have no experience in financial management or industrial law, most are capable of running an efficient, profitable and well-managed canteen.

This manual provides important information about health and other legal requirements, industrial awards, management practices and relevant policies of the Department of Education and Training.
