Message from The CEO

It is my great pleasure to welcome you back to another school year. This time of year always carries a sense of renewal and optimism. It is a chance to look ahead, reset, and focus on what we can achieve together for our school communities.

Our work together is multifaceted and complementary. Whether your efforts are focused locally in your school, across your broader community, or at a state level, your contribution helps strengthen public education. We are a Federation in every sense of the word: a movement that works in harmony, where local action and statewide advocacy reinforce each other.

That connection we as a Federation have with our members is reflected in our work with Government. I am delighted to welcome back the Deputy Premier the Hon. Prue Car MP following her treatment, and I know many of you will share in our shared warmth and optimism for the year ahead. I also want to thank the Hon. Courtney Houssos MLC for her stewardship of the portfolio last year. I am personally grateful, as are parents across NSW, for the dedication, genuine consultation and expertise she brought to the role during the Deputy Premier’s absence. It is a privilege to work closely with not one, but two Ministers who have demonstrated a deep and practical commitment to public education, and who have made meaningful strides in responding to the feedback of the Federation on behalf of families across the state. We also welcome the appointment of a new Shadow Minister for Education in NSW, the Hon. Mark Speakman MP, who brings a depth of experience and enthusiasm his new portfolio.
