Communicating with parents and carers – Have Your Say

Your voice matters! The NSW Department of Education is seeking expressions of interest from parents and carers of NSW public school students to participate in interviews and focus groups to discuss how schools communicate with parents and carers.
This important Department of Education research aims to delve into how they can enhance communication with parents and carers about their children’s learning and experiences at school, as well as how they can better support learning at home. Your insights will be instrumental in shaping strategies and school-based programs for effective communication.
How much time is required to participate in this research?
The research is designed to be flexible and convenient. You can choose between participating in a two-hour virtual focus group or a one-hour virtual individual interview. Each focus group will consist of 4-6 participants to ensure a collaborative and inclusive environment. The interviews and focus groups will occur between 7 August and 11 August 2023.
During these sessions, you will be able to provide insights on your unique experiences and needs, with a core focus on how schools communicate with parents and carers, individually and as a community, regarding students learning and activities at school, as well as how learning can be supported at home. Your voice will play a vital role in shaping the future of education reform in NSW.

If this research is oversubscribed, participants will be selected on a first-in basis. Participants will be notified via email by 2 August 2023.
