On Wednesday 8 September, P&C Federation will co-host the “Supporting young people to navigate consent” webinar.
This webinar is the second of a series of webinars co-hosted by the NSW Department of Education and P&C Federation on working together to strengthen consent education.
During this webinar, you will hear from special guest speaker, Dr Melissa Kang (MBBS MCH PhD), a medical practitioner, educator and researcher, specialising in adolescent and youth health.
Dr Kang will discuss how to support young people to navigate consent, including:
A definition of consent
Exploring everyday situations and age appropriate language for having conversations at home.
How to approach the issue of consent, including the words to ask for/ receive consent.
The impacts of power on consent.
Where to go for help for your child or young person, and resources for parents and carers to support conversations at home.
You can find out more information and register for the webinar at this link.
The P&C Federation is committed to a free public education system which is inclusive of all, irrespective of culture, gender, academic ability and socio-economic status. Parents, as partners in the education process, have a right and a responsibility to play an active role in the education of their children. We support nearly 2,000 P&C Associations across NSW, represent the voice of parents and work to help public school communities to thrive.
